The season is not over but for this team there are only a few meets. I'm putting a few random shots from various meets. The first is the Streetsboro Invitational. It was the first win for RHS! Below: That's Jack's head in the back.
The huddle before the start.
Below, look at our big boy! He's the tallest kid in the field pretty much every time.
The nice thing about this meet was both the middle school and the high school were at the same location. When they're not Mary and I have to split our presence. With meets every Tues or Wed and Saturday it's a lot of time. And worth it! Hey Luke, what are you smiling about?
It's difficult for me to take good photos because I rather cheer and watch them race. I try. Below: Luke vs nature. I'm working on getting him to stick with other runners so he's not running alone.
Barberton Tri Meet! This was one of those instances when the boys were at different places. For Jack, it was a three school tri meet. He battled this 38-year old bearded wonder to the finish line and edged him out in the end!
Jack's kick is pretty strong. This year in track he'll be able to kick off a faster pace.
The Boardman Invitational! This was a real invitational with about 40 teams and stiff competition. Not sure I would have won this in high school. The winner (blue top & yellow shorts) won in 15:36 and is a 4:08 miler. Deep field.
Below is Jack mid-race.
The finish line is 200m around this corner. Kick, Jack!
Below: A shot of Jack walking with his coaches. In that trash can is all the team gear (e.g., tent). That's dedication.
The middle school team also ran at Boardman. Below, Luke vigorously argues that waffles are better than pancakes.
Luke ran well but - again - ended up in no-man's-land.
The same corner only 200m from the line.
Tallmadge Tri-Meet! One of the many reasons Cross Country is the best sport in the world is the theater. The courses are so often beautiful and every one issues new challenges. The below photo is the field they started and finished in.
Luke heading toward the finish.
Below is the best middle school guy on the team. He placed 3rd.
The girls middle school team is by far the best Kent XC team at Kent, including the HS teams. They got 2nd at Boardman (no small thing) and won on this day. I believe they took 1-3-4-5-7 (?).
Go Kent and good luck at the rest of the meets!
