Costa Rica (Prt 4): Chocolate!

That's my chocolate before it's chocolate!? Below: Ah, that's a little better but it's liquid! One of our excursions was a chocolate tour. It wasn't zip lining but super tasty. They brought us through the entire process of making our favorite "vice."
...from ecosystem to tree to drying to smashing and even eating!
A whole heck of a lot goes into it.
Here we are in the grove.
Jack got a surprise mama bear hug. I didn't know they inhabited Costa Rica coca groves.
It's not a punching bag, Mary!
The tour sat across from this table (below) where much of the educational stuff happened. And, where the samples were! All the fresh coca you could eat. Apparently, for quality chocolate you want to see  50% coca for milk chocolate and 70% for dark.
If there is no percentage on the package, it's cheap chocolate, we were told. Sampling was simply amazing.
Luke volunteered to grind some beans.
Is that Mjölnir? Nope, its Jack smashing beans.
It was a blast.
Yummy to boot!
We took orders for everyone (since Lisa & Karen were on a boat talking to monkeys while David & Maddie were repelling down waterfalls) and bought a little for ourselves!

Next up...David and Lisa try to steal Jack and Luke's food! 🤣
